Our responsibility

As a responsible organization, we want to make a positive difference to the people, the communities and the environment by following five core values. We achieve these values by actively:

  • Monitoring our environmental footprint both on land and at sea to help protect and preserve the environment for future generations;
  • Respecting the water and energy that we use as highly-valued resources;
  • Encouraging our crews, staff and guests to be more environmentally aware;
  • Buying locally-sourced produce and provisions that enable us to give back to the communities we operate in;
  • Supporting local communities and their cultures through corporate sponsorship opportunities and charity initiatives.

From helping to protect and preserve our environments, to working closely with local communities and charities in some of our destinations, we have an ethical responsibility to look after the world around us.

By making these eco-friendly products, you'll be doing your own bit to help preserve our precious marine life, coral reefs and oceans.

TradeWinds – an eco-friendly organization

We all have a responsibility to look after our environment, both on shore and at sea, not only for this generation, but for future generations to enjoy, and we actively encourage our crews and guests to help us to reduce our environmental footprint.

Our yacht and land-based crews have access to everything they need to ensure that we provide our guests with superior vacation experiences whilst making as little impact on the environment as possible.

Non-toxic chemicals

Using a high concentration of chemicals has an enormously damaging effect on our oceans, reefs and marine life, so we maintain our yachts using a range of eco-friendly and non-toxic cleaning products.

Solar power

We use some solar power whilst at sea, however, we turn off fans and lights when they’re not in use, and manage our systems so fuel is used to its optimum, ensuring that marine conservation is always on our mind.

On-board air conditioning

We believe that we’ve found the right balance between minimizing the environmental impact of using air conditioning and giving you an exceptional level of comfort onboard. We also encourage our guests to open hatches from time to time and feel the sea breeze!

Plastic pledge

We opt to use reusable bottles and containers, which saves the environment from thousands of plastic water bottles that sadly make their way into our oceans each year. We also shop consciously and choose recyclable materials.

Food waste

Our menus are planned in advance, and use the freshest produce available to ensure minimum food waste. Reusable food containers are used instead of plastic wrap and aluminum foil.

From training our staff and crews to live and charter green, to collaborating with yacht builders who share our passion to be environmentally friendly, we strive to live by our promise to look after and respect our environment.

Built for environmental sustainability

Forming part of our AQUA·TERRA Collection, Mandala an eco-resort on Fetoko Island in Tonga, and the TRIBU VILLAS on the island of Mayreau, in St Vincent and the Grenadines are shining examples of environmental sustainability, as each property has been lovingly designed to complement its natural, tropical surroundings. Mandala, in particular, used sustainable materials to thoughtfully construct handcrafted treehouses and bungalows with living roofs to highlight the island’s natural beauty.

Together we can make a difference

Whether you are joining us for a land-based or sea-based experience, find out how you can do your bit for the environment.

Eco-friendly, reef-safe and all-natural products

  • In your cabin, you’ll find non-toxic soap, as well as body and hair wash.
  • You can even try our own eco-friendly recipes for All Purpose Air Fresheners and Insect Repellents!

Use less plastics

  • Bring your reusable water bottles and coffee cups on vacation with you. You’ll still be able to enjoy your caffeine fix while reducing plastic waste;
  • Say no to plastic straws in favor of paper or metal ones when dining out;
  • Going shopping for souvenirs or produce onshore? Be a savvy shopper and go armed with your own shopping bag.
